About Us

The Irish-Uyghur Community aims to protect, support, and celebrate Uyghur language and culture by providing a safe and embracive space for language learning and cultural performance, as well as sharing cultural exchange and forging relationships and friendships with our fellow Irish.

It further aims to provide a physical space for the Irish Uyghur community to meet, engage with one another and help support integration into Irish life. The Community sees itself as a bridge, supporting events of shared cultural and language exchange as well as educational outreach.

We are also here to engage in outreach activities with the wider Irish community to celebrate, embrace, and learn about one another’s traditions, language, culture, food etc.

While this organization is non-political, non-religious, and welcomes all, it cannot but highlight what is happening to the Uyghur community in China, and to lobby for support from the Irish government for the Uyghur people both in Ireland and China.

We are also here to support and provide a voice for the Uyghur Irish community, including speaking out against the Chinese government’s campaign of repression and crimes against humanity which have been condemned around the world, including by the Irish government.
